Ondo guber: Confusion as INEC receives names of 2 PDP factional candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is said to have received names of governorship candidates of the two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), factions.
The Armed Makarfi-led group and the Ali Modu Sheriff faction reportedly submitted names of two different candidates to the commission, a situation, that has heightened the confusion over who is the authentic candidate of the embattled party in the coming November 26, governorship election in the state.
While the National Caretaker Committee headed by Senator Makarfi submitted the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Sheriff’s faction on the other gave the name of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim as its candidate.
It was learnt that Sheriff’s faction submitted the name of its candidate relying on two court orders, which mandated INEC to receive candidates for the governorship elections both in Edo and Ondo states from Sheriff’s camp.
Mr Bernard Mikko, a former member of the House of Representatives and the spokesman for Sheriff’s faction who confirmed the submission of Ibrahim’s name to the commission, boasted that his faction was sure of emerging victorious in the coming election in the state.
He claimed that Sheriff remains real and authentic national chairman of the party going by court rulings.
He added that the faction’s candidate, Ibrahim is formidable and will win any other candidate going by the transparent process that saw him emerged candidate of the party.
Meanwhile, Dayo Adeyeye, the spokesperson of the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP rubbished the submission of Ibrahim ‘s name to INEC.
According to him, Sheriff and his faction will not succeed in their plans just as it failed to achieve anything in a similar move in Edo State governorship election.
