Yesterday served as the inauguration of France's youngest post-war leader Emmanuel Macron aged 39.Macron had the reins of power handed to him by Francois Hollande(France's previous president),Macron had earlier served as deputy secretary-general in Francois hollande's first government in 2012.He was later appointed Minister of Economy, Industry and digital affairs in 2014 under the second valles government where he pushed through business friendly reforms.
The amazing thing about Macron's victory over fellow contestant Marie le pen after a divisive and bitter campaign is that he had just established his political party, En marche the previous year which is a liberal, progressive and political movement with no alignment with either of the left and right factions and it lacked political backing from the then president, Francois Hollande. Yet, he still managed to pull a clear cut and decisive win over fellow contestant which makes his win a very considerable accomplishment especially if we are to consider the criticisms and speculations surrounding his bid for presidency and cyber attacks aimed at him.
At a series of ceremonies clearly designed to emphasize France's military power which took place yesterday to usher him into power. Macron promised to rebuild his nation's self confidence and re-launch the flagging European Union. He stated further that "The world and Europe needs a strong France with a sense of it's own destiny, We need a Europe that is more efficient, more democratic and more political because it is the instrument of our power and sovereignty".All in all with a young, strong and vibrant leader with the backing and support of the people who is dedicated to the revitalization of his country, it is safe to say that the future bodes well for France.
